WOW! What a great start for my climbing activity... as early as January 14 I had my first climb for 2012 at Mt. Gulugod-Baboy at Anilao, Batangas and may I say it was worth filing a leave. It was a 2 days activity thou it was tiring but for sure it was fun, a lot of fun. It was 4 months after my last climb, when I was advised that there will be a climb I'm so excited I thought to my self that I want to join and I must come, however it took me more than a week to confirm coz there was a conflict with my schedule and when I already advised my friend that I'll join she had a bad news that the slots for the climb was already full, I was sadden because I'm really so excited by that time. Good thing that my friend Mel and her boyfriend , who are the organizer of the said climb had some friends who also joined in at last minute so new slots were openned and I was able to confirmed my interest.
Upon confirming my slot the first thing I did was to list down what I need and what to bring making sure that everything was packed. And for my schedule, aaaahhh my supervisor was such an angel he allowed me to file sick leave even thou I am not sick boss I owe you one, well one time on our next climb probably you would like to join us.. hehehehe. Right after my shift from work, still tired and sleepy I hurriedly get out of the office took a cab to be able to be on the meeting place on the scheduled meeting time, luckily I'm just right on time. Since that I came from shift and actually most of the participants are, we are all asleep on our way to Anilao Batangas.
Just reminiscing back, I started hiking year 2010 when the same friend, Mel, invited me in their climb and that was March 2010 we took trails of Mt. Manibu, Batangas. First hike, first peak, first climb and first to experience body pain and coldness on top of the mountain, that I don't have any idea that It was that cold up there. But that first experience, that first leap of mine brought me to a new world of wilderness and will continue on to take steps to more mountains. However, there was been an issue and actually its still on going that doing mountain climbing, hikers destroy the nature's original shape, the land is loosing its scape, dirt/garbage filing the corners of the mountains. Well its just a matter of discipline and being responsible, that should be, for me hiking is one of the way to destress myself and be rejuvenated from the toxic world of call center. Every time I reached the summit and see the beauty of the nature from top that most people don't experience as they are just in low lands it was a warming heartful and peaceful moment. Sleeping inside the tent on a cold and chilly night; eating corned beef, tuna, maling like you have never eaten before; drinking emperador on summit; talking and having a wonderful conversation with people you've never seen for long time and meeting new friends ----------- these are all so perfect!
We are just on the first month of the year and I'm looking forward for another more climb wishing the second one will be on March as I celebrate my 2nd year of being an adventurer, but before I have one I wish that I could already buy a proper hiking shoes and a two header tent, coz the tent I have is only good for one thou 2 person can fit in but just have to sleep side by side, hehehehe....
I'm wishing more fun climb this year, that suits my sched, my budget, my time. In wishing on for this I'm also praying for a safe hike not only for me but for the rest of the climbers, I hope as well that my friends could join me as I want to share with them this story. And at the same time in every climb that lesson will be learned.
Have a safe hike, have a fun climb and always remember:
Take nothing but pictures
Leave nothing but footprints
Kill nothing but time!!
These are the beauty the most people misses who are always on the low land |
